International Aid Transparency Initiative Data Sets
The data sets available on this page follow the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) standard.
The files are bilingual (both English and French in the same file) and use codes rather than words (e.g. International Organization for Standardization (ISO) country code rather than Peru and Pérou) whenever possible. These codes can be cross-referenced to the IATI Codelists.
To comply with the IATI standard, we format our data in an agreed electronic format, XML (Extensible Markup Language). The data files are published below and available through the IATI Registry, an online tool to search, register and use IATI data.
Various tools are available to access IATI data. For data from Global Affairs Canada, the Project Browser is the most user-friendly tool. For data published by other organizations, the IATI Registry, Datastore or D-Portal should be used.
Activity Files
The IATI Standard refers to "activities", which for Global Affairs Canada means international assistance projects. There are two files: one for active projects with Implementation (2) or Completion (3) status, and one for projects with Post-completion (4) status.
Several data elements, or fields, are provided about each project; consult the field definitions and other information about the standard.
Organisation File
This file contains information about the annual forward planning budget and links to key documents such as strategies and reports published by Global Affairs Canada.
