The Minister of International Trade is responsible for the appointments of Board and Committee members for these different entities. These entities perform a variety of different functions.

Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Business Advisory Council (ABAC)

The Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Advisory Council was established in 1995 by APEC Leaders. ABAC presents recommendations to APEC Leaders in an annual dialogue and advises APEC officials on business sector priorities and concerns. 

ABAC comprises up to three senior business people from each APEC economy. Canadian members are appointed by the Prime Minister following a recommendation by the Minister of International Trade.
