Canadian Company Helps Meet Power Energy Needs of Sub-Saharan Africa

January 29, 2013 - Abuja - The Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, congratulates Corvus Energy on its announcement that the company's flagship battery module will be a prime source of uninterrupted power supply for residential and commercial applications in the Nigerian market.
Corvus Energy, based in Vancouver, is a leading global manufacturer of high-power lithium ion polymer batteries used in hybrid and 100-percent-electric heavy machinery applications. The company's advanced energy and energy-management solutions are used in a range of market segments, including grid, off-grid, marine, on-road, communications, rail and & locomotives, wind, solar and ground- support equipment. Corvus employs 50 people in Canada and 70 worldwide.
Minister Fast is on a six-day trade mission to Nigeria and Ghana to advance the interests of Canadian businesses in sub-Saharan Africa. Increased trade will in turn create jobs and increased prosperity for all Canadians. Minister Fast is accompanied on the trade mission by representatives of nearly 30 Canadian organizations, most of them operating in the extractive industries and infrastructure sectors.
This first trade mission of 2013, which is being organized by the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service, is one of several strategically focused, sector-specific missions to fast-growing regions around the world that Minister Fast has led since becoming international trade minister.
