Privacy notice statement: Consultations on Canada’s approach to trade

Global Affairs Canada is committed to protecting the privacy rights of individuals, including by respecting the personal privacy of individuals who visit our websites, in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act. This includes those who participate in consultations such as this one on Canada’s inclusive approach to trade.

Canada is developing an inclusive approach to trade in recognition that trade policies and agreements need to respond and contribute more meaningfully to broader economic, social and environmental policy priorities. This approach means including provisions in trade agreements in important areas such as labour rights, the environment, small and medium-sized enterprises, gender equality and Indigenous peoples; a focus on transparency in the negotiation process and inclusive consultations; and considering emerging trade policy and economic issues, such as innovation, or goods and services traded online.

Global Affairs Canada is seeking the views of the Canadian public and interested stakeholders through a multi-step consultation process on how Canada’s inclusive approach to trade can best ensure that all segments of society can take advantage of the opportunities that flow from trade and investment.

The information is collected under the authority of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Act, section 10(2)(e): “foster the expansion of Canada’s international trade and commerce.”
