Canada-Singapore Free Trade Agreement Negotiations
Bilateral FTA negotiations with Singapore were launched in October 2001, but negotiations have been on hold by mutual agreement since November 2009.
The Government of Canada is currently focused on overall economic engagement with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). In August 2016, Canada’s Minister of International Trade, the Honorable Chrystia Freeland, announced several initiatives to deepen commercial relationship with ASEAN's fast-growing economies, which includes Singapore.
