Akwaba, bienvenue and welcome to the website of the Embassy of Canada in Côte d'Ivoire, which also covers Liberia.

It is my great honour to represent Canada as an ambassador to these 2 countries in Africa, a continent with which Canada is proud to work in a partnership in order to build a better future for all. I am happy to have by my side a competent, professional and dynamic team of Ivorian and Canadian employees, working together for the implementation of a wide range of programs: consular or passport services, trade services and development cooperation programs in support of Côte d'Ivoire and Liberia.

The year 2022 is very special to us, because we are celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of our cordial and diversified diplomatic relations with Côte d'Ivoire, solid and trusting relations, which are based above all on the multitude of ties of friendship and on common values: tolerance, diversity, generosity towards newcomers, and acceptance of difference. The intensity of our bilateral relationship is also reflected in the Canadian community in Côte d'Ivoire and the vibrant Ivorian diaspora in Canada. The two countries collaborate in international and multilateral bodies and organizations such as the United Nations, La Francophonie and the African Development Bank.

Mutually beneficial trade and investment relations between our countries have continued to intensify, although they aspire to greater diversification. Beyond the mining sector, Canada is a major partner in infrastructure, clean technology, renewable energy, education, organic agriculture to name a few. Trade Commissioner Services work with Canadian companies interested in doing business in Côte d'Ivoire, a space of growth and opportunity and West Africa's largest Francophone economy. We are also working to strengthen our trade and investment relations with Liberia.

Canada's Feminist International Assistance Policy is the base of our Canadian development cooperation in Côte d'Ivoire and Liberia. This cooperation aims to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular SDG #5 on gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. Canada proudly works to improve the living conditions of the poorest and most vulnerable people.

If you are a Canadian residing in or visiting Côte d'Ivoire or Liberia, take a moment to register online on Canadians abroad registrations so that you can be alerted in the event of an emergency. Do not forget travel information related to COVID-19.

Canada is proud of its relations with Côte d'Ivoire and Liberia. I look forward to continuing to strengthen this relationship between our countries. It is together, in a relationship of mutual respect and solidarity that we will prosper and succeed.
