Partnership to fund gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in Canada and abroad

Expression of Interest

On January 31, 2019, Global Affairs Canada received Expressions of Interest from members of the philanthropic community, the private sector, not-for-profit and non-governmental organizations. In the next stage, an invitation will be sent to eligible organizations or consortia to develop and submit a comprehensive proposal to design, establish and manage the partnership.

Information Session

An information session on the Expression of Interest in the Partnership to Fund Gender Equality was held on January 16 from 10:30 a.m. to noon (Eastern Time).

Please note that answers to questions are now posted on the partnership for gender equality expression of interest questions and answers page.

Opportunities for Organizations to Locate Partners

During the information session, organizations were encouraged to reach out to each other, and a list of registered participants was distributed. While Global Affairs Canada will not hold additional events relating to this Expression of Interest, the department encourages organizations to consider consortium arrangements in which the collective expertise of partners is brought together to meet the partnership’s goals.

Note: Global Affairs Canada will not retain or store the organization name or contact information for any purpose other than for the purpose of this information session. Note that providing contact information does not constitute a formal response to the Expression of Interest.

What we heard report – Shaping the partnership for gender equality

In September and October 2018, Global Affairs Canada held a series of targeted roundtable discussions in Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver and Montréal, engaging more than 80 stakeholders from civil society, the philanthropic community and the private sector to discuss the design and development of the partnership for gender equality.

A framework discussion paper prepared by Global Affairs Canada outlining a number of key elements helped guide the discussions, focusing on key questions related to the partnership’s potential programming elements, institutional arrangements and governance and investment functions. Participants had much to share and Global Affairs Canada welcomed their perspectives, including messages of support for the overall platform, as well as advice on how to make it work.

Details of the discussions can be found in the What we heard report.
