Foreign languages program
Foreign language training and testing in over 40 languages is available on a cost-recovery basis to federal and provincial government employees. Classes are private and tailored to each student. The languages available are:

Tests
There are 2 types of foreign language proficiency tests:
- The oral proficiency test evaluates your ability to communicate in the target language in different settings.
- The reading proficiency test evaluates your ability to read authentic material in the target language.
Tests are administered in person or remotely. These tests are not linked to specific language training objectives.
Test results are based on the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Scale. The tests measure language competency in government settings.
