WTO: Food Preparations TRQ – Serial No. 982

This Notice to Importers sets out the policies and practices pertaining to the administration of Canada’s tariff rate quota (TRQ) for food preparations under the World Trade Organization (WTO).
This Notice is provided pursuant to the authority of the Export and Import Permits Act (EIPA) and its corresponding regulations, and remains in effect until further notice.

1. Definitions
Food preparations means a product that is included in Item 128 on the Import Control List (ICL), namely food preparations (other than ice cream mixes or ice milk mixes), containing more than 10 per cent but less than 50 per cent on a dry weight basis of milk solids, not in retail packaging, that is classified under tariff item 1901.90.33 in the list of tariff provisions set out in the schedule to the Customs Tariff.

First-come, first-served basis means shipment-specific import permits are issued on demand for each shipment, until the access quantity is fully utilized, or to the end of the TRQ year, whichever occurs first.
2. Allocation policy
- The TRQ for food preparations is administered annually on a first-come, first-served basis.
