Message to Brokers – Update to the Unit of Measure (UoM) for certain Tariff Preference Level (TPL) export codes under the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) – Serial No. 1128
Date: July 9, 2024
The purpose of this message is to inform exporters and customs brokers that Global Affairs Canada will be updating the Unit of Measure for certain Tariff Preference Level (TPL) export codes as per Chapter 6, Annex 6-B Conversion Factors of the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA).
As of July 22, 2024, the Unit of Measure for certain Tariff Preference Level (TPL) codes of Chapters 61 and 62 will be updated (e.g. from Number (NMB) to Dozen (DZN)) in the New Export Import Control System and the Handbook of Import and Export Commodity Codes.
If you apply for a Certificate of Eligibility with an entry date on or after July 22, please confirm the Unit of Measure for the Harmonized System (HS) codes you are about to use in the Handbook of Import and Export Commodity Codes as the Unit of Measure will have been updated for several codes. If the Unit of Measure for the Harmonized System (HS) code you are about to use has been updated from Number (NMB) to Dozen (DZN), you will now have to report the quantity in Dozen (DZN) instead of Number (NMB).
Should you have any questions, please email tpl-npt@international.gc.ca.
