PROTOCOL AMENDING THE FREE TRADE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF CANADA AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE STATE OF ISRAEL

THE GOVERNMENT OF CANADA AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE STATE OF ISRAEL:

RECOGNISING that the Free Trade Agreement between the Government of Canada and the Government of the State of Israel, done at Toronto on 31 July 1996 and amended on 5 July 2002 and 1 November 2003 (hereinafter referred to as “the Agreement”), provides a vital framework for trade;

REAFFIRMING their commitment to achieve the goals and objectives of the Agreement; and

DESIRING to expand and modernise the Agreement to create further opportunities;

HAVE AGREED as follows:

Article 1

This Protocol shall be referred to as the Canada – Israel Free Trade Amending Protocol 2018.

Article 2

The title, preamble, articles and annexes of the Agreement are amended to read as set forth in the Appendix to this Protocol.

Article 3

This Protocol shall enter into force on the first day of the second month following the date of the latter diplomatic note by which the Parties notify each other that their respective internal legal procedures for the entry into force of this Protocol have been completed.

Article 4

This Protocol shall remain in force for as long as the Agreement remains in force. The termination of the Agreement shall also terminate this Protocol unless agreed otherwise by the Parties.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the undersigned, being duly authorised by their respective Governments, have signed this Protocol.

DONE at Montreal, this 28th day of May 2018, which corresponds to the 14th day of Sivan in the year 5778 of the Hebrew Calendar, in duplicate in the English, French and Hebrew languages, each version being equally authentic.
