Declaration of Intent by the Government of Canada and the Government of the United Arab Emirates on the Conclusion of Negotiations for a Bilateral Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement

Canada and the United Arab Emirates have successfully negotiated an Agreement on the Promotion and Protection of Investments (the “Agreement”).

Reaffirming that Canada and the United Arab Emirates share a desire to expand trade and investment, this Agreement will seek to deepen their economic ties and expand investment opportunities for Canadian and UAE businesses.

Canada and the United Arab Emirates will conduct their respective legal review of the concluded text with a view to ensuring the overall high quality of the document, its clarity and accuracy as well as the correspondence of the content of its English, French, and Arabic versions.

Canada and the United Arab Emirates declare that they will take all necessary internal steps towards the signature and entry into force of the Agreement as soon as practicable and consistent with the respective domestic processes of Canada and the United Arab Emirates.
