Number of projects to be funded: 4 to 6 projects
Overall budget: $36,000,000
Objectives: Address the needs of paid care workers through gender-transformative projects that partner with or support local/national women’s rights organizations and/or feminist organizations and/or Indigenous organizations. The selected projects will contribute to enhanced protection and promotion of women’ and girls’ rights and needs related to paid care work. If projects also include a focus on unpaid care work, the projects will contribute as well to enhanced participation of women and girls in economic, educational, political, community and leisure activities aligned to their own choice.
Eligibility (by invitation only)
Organizations invited to submit a concept note have demonstrated experience addressing issues in paid or unpaid care work. They meet the following preliminary criteria:
- Type of organization: Canadian civil society organization legally incorporated.
- Experience in at least 1 of 2 sectors:
- Paid care work programming: Can demonstrate substantial experience (at least 3 years within the last 10 years) implementing paid care programming. including supporting paid care workers in terms of representing their voices and/or responding to their rights and needs, including professionalization.
- Unpaid care work programming: Can demonstrate significant experience (at least 2 projects within the last 10 years) that demonstrate integration of unpaid care work (either at the outcome level or as an important focus) and substantial experience (at least 3 years within the last 10 years) advocating or programming at the national and/or regional/local levels to address women’s economic empowerment issues with a focus on labour rights and/or supporting women entrepreneurs.
- Financial capacity: Can demonstrate experience managing projects valued at $10 million or more, regardless of the source of funding.
