Carbon Steel Products

Carbon steel products including semi-finished products (ingots, blooms, billets, slabs and sheet bars), plate, sheets and strip, wire rods, wire and wire products, railway-type products, bars, structural shapes and units, pipe and tubes, but excluding the specialty steel products referred to in item 81 of the Import Control List, as listed below.

Specialty Steel Products

Specialty steel products: stainless flat-rolled products (sheet, strip and plate), stainless steel bar, stainless steel pipe and tube, stainless steel wire and wire products, stainless steel in ingots or other primary forms, semi-finished products of stainless steel, alloy tool steel, mold steel and high-speed steel.

Type of Control: Surveillance from all sources.

Unit of measure: Kilogram (KGM)

Remarks:

• The first six digits of the tariff item for carbon and specialty steel products correspond to the international Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System (HS) nomenclature.
• The first 10 digits of the tariff item correspond to the current Canadian HS-based import classification at the 10-digit level used for customs and statistical purposes.
• The last four digits of the tariff item are always zero.
• The steel import monitoring program covers the following HS items: 7206-7229, 7301-7302, 7304-7306, 7308, 7312-7313, and 7317.
