Minister of State Kent Congratulates People of Belize on Occasion of Their Independence Day
(No. 265 - September 21, 2009 - 12:30 p.m. EDT) The Honourable Peter Kent, Minister of State of Foreign Affairs (Americas), today issued the following statement congratulating the people of Belize as they celebrate their country’s Independence Day:
"Canada extends congratulations to the people of Belize as they celebrate the 28th anniversary of their country’s independence. Canada and Belize enjoy a positive relationship based on our shared historical traditions and systems of government, cultural ties and people-to-people links. Our connection continues to evolve with increased cooperation in areas such as security and defence.
"We look forward to building on our excellent relationship with Belize."
