Changes to U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule commodity codes

On August 22, 2016, numerous new commodity codes under Chapter 62 (Articles of Apparel and Clothing Accessories, Not Knitted or Crocheted) in the U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) became effective for exports to the U.S. The new codes have now been added to the Export Import Controls System (EICS). However, until such time as the codes are added to the online Handbook of Export and Import Commodity Codes, please link to the U.S. HTS to identify the appropriate export commodity code under Chapter 62: https://hts.usitc.gov/current

Note that in the EICS, 14-digit codes are required in order to apply for a TPL Certificate of Eligibility. Please use the following code structure in order to apply for Certificates of Eligibility using the new codes:

U.S. HTS code (10 digits) + zero (“0”) + U.S. 3-digit textile category

Eg. 6211.43.10.03 + 0 + 659 = 6211.43.10.03.0659

The U.S. 3-digit textile category is typically found in brackets following the HTS description.
