Privacy notice statement

Global Affairs Canada (GAC) is committed to protecting the privacy rights of individuals and safeguarding the personal information under its control in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act.

GAC is seeking input from businesses and other interested parties on the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) as part of the Agreement’s mandated General Review. All CPTPP Members, including Canada, will contribute to the General Review – Canada’s contribution will be informed by parties’ comments. The purpose of the General Review process is to evaluate the performance of the CPTPP with a view to updating and enhancing this Agreement to ensure that it remains of the highest possible standard for trade agreements.

Personal information is being collected under the authority of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Act, Paragraph 10(2)(k). The information you provide is voluntary and you may, without prejudice, decide not to participate in this survey.

For reasons of confidentiality and security, the submissions, and names of contributors to this consultation process will not be released to the public by the Government of Canada. You are encouraged to make fact-based statements that do not include your personal views and opinions about other individuals, as the Privacy Act considers such views and opinions to be personal information pertaining to those individuals.

Personal information will be protected and retained according to the provisions of the Privacy Act and description in the standard personal information bank Outreach Activities, (PSU) 938.

You have the right to the protection of your personal information. Your personal information will be stored in the department’s corporate repository on a secured server, accessed only by those with a working need to do so.

You have the right to access and to request corrections where you believe there is an error or omission. You may contact Global Affairs Canada’s Access to Information and Privacy Protection Division at dcp@international.gc.ca to exercise these rights.

If requesting access to or correction of your personal information, please refer to this specific survey/consultation and date of undertaking. In addition, individuals have the right to file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada regarding GAC’s handling of personal information.
