This consultation will run from July 8, 2024 to August 2, 2024. Stakeholders have until 11:59 p.m. (Pacific Time) on August 2, 2024, to submit their responses, comments and suggestions.
In keeping with Global Affairs Canada’s policy, the Government of Canada is seeking input from Canadians on the administration of the import quotas for beef and veal products under the World Trade Organization (WTO) Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ).

We want to hear from you
The input gathered through this consultation will inform the Government of Canada of industry stakeholder interests regarding the update of existing administration policy under the WTO Beef and Veal TRQ. Any changes to the administration policy of the import quotas for beef and veal products under the WTO TRQ will take effect for the quota year beginning January 1, 2025.
Who should participate?
The department would like to hear from all stakeholders with an interest in this matter, including:
- the Canadian public;
- importers and processors of beef and veal;
- academic and experts;
- indigenous groups;
- national and provincial industry associations;
- small, medium and large enterprises;
- national, provincial, territorial and regional associations;
- provincial and territorial governments;
- international trading partners.
