Privacy Notice Statement

Global Affairs Canada (GAC) is committed to protecting the privacy rights of individuals and safeguarding the personal information under its control in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act.

"Personal information” is defined as any information, in any form, about an identifiable individual, including details of the individual’s personal experiences, opinions or views. Please refer to section 3 of the Privacy Act for further details regarding personal information. Personal information collected by GAC is protected from disclosure to unauthorized persons and/or agencies subject to the provisions of the Privacy Act.

[GAC is collecting opinions from employees with disabilities in order to develop its Accessibility Action Plans (AAP) or to receive feedback on its existing plan. The information requested is required by the Department in order to comply with the Accessible Canada Act (ACA) and will be used to inform further decisions with regards to employees with disabilities.]

The information is collected under the authority of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Act, Section 10(2)(k) and protected from disclosure to unauthorized persons and/or agencies pursuant to the provisions of the Privacy Act.

Personal information will be protected under the provisions of the Privacy Act and held in Personal Information Bank PSU 938 (Outreach Activities). Personal information will not be used for a secondary purpose without first obtaining your explicit consent. In addition, personal information will not be used for an administrative purpose. Submission of your information constitutes consent to the collection and use of your personal information.

Provision of the information requested is voluntary and you may, without prejudice, decline to respond. If you choose not to provide your personal information, you may respond anonymously. Although optional, your feedback is of great value to GAC and will be used to inform future decisions.

You have the right to the protection of your personal information. Your personal information will be stored in the Department’s corporate repository on a secured server, accessed only by those with a working need to do so. You have the right to access and to request corrections where you believe there is an error or omission. You may contact GAC’s Access to Information and Privacy Protection Division at dcp@international.gc.ca to exercise these rights. If requesting access to or correction of your personal information, please refer to this specific survey and date of undertaking. In addition, individuals have the right to file a complaint with the Privacy Commissioner of Canada regarding GACs handling of personal information.
