Privacy Notice Statement

Global Affairs Canada (GAC) is committed to protecting the privacy rights of individuals and safeguarding the personal information under its control in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act.

“Personal information” is defined as any information, in any form or medium, about an identifiable individual, including details of an individual’s personal experiences, opinions or views. Please refer to section 3 of the Privacy Act for further details regarding personal information.

Personal information is being collected under the authority of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Development and Trade Act 10(2) and protected from disclosure to unauthorized persons and/or agencies pursuant to the provisions of the Privacy Act.

The information we request is required for the purpose of sending you an email notice when we post new information. Personal information will be protected under the provisions of the Privacy Act and held in an institution-specific Personal Information Bank (PIB) currently under development. The personal information collected will be retained for as long as the subscription is active and will then be destroyed. Personal information will not be used for a secondary purpose without first obtaining your explicit consent. In addition, personal information will not be used for an administrative purpose. Submission of your information constitutes consent to the collection and use of your personal information.

You have the right to request access to your information and to request corrections where you believe there is an error or omission. You may contact the Department’s Access to Information and Privacy Protection Division at dcp@international.gc.ca to exercise these rights. You also have the right to file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) at any time regarding the Department’s handling of your personal information.
